Few people in Skirling today have deep family roots in the village. An exhibition in Skirling Village Hall on Saturday 26th October will be a chance to look at how the village has developed over the centuries, through both the significant and the everyday events in its history. 750 years after the first recorded mention of Skirling, we will reflect on where our community has come from.
Historical panels, items of interest, photographs and anecdotes will create an impression of what it would have been like to live in Skirling over the centuries. An evening event is planned to share stories and anecdotes of Skirling past. George and Charlie Wheeler Carmichael plan to visit bringing with them some fascinating maps and paintings as well as the Skirling Quilt.
Please mark the 26th October in your diary for a unique opportunity to discover the story of your village.
Nadara is once again running a ‘Student Support Scheme’ for students studying energy and renewable courses and who are normally resident in communities near Nadara-owned wind farms. Information on the scheme and application process can be found at: Power Up Your Career in Renewable Energy with Our Funding Opportunity. This scheme is independent, separate and additional to existing community benefit funding arrangements, and is being run by Nadara – Foundation Scotland has no involvement.
