Skirling Burns Supper 2025

The bi-annual Skirling Burns Supper was held after a five year gap in Skirling Village Hall on the 31st of January and attended by around 70 worthies from Skirling and the surrounding farms.   The top table, Jim Gibb – Chair Jamie Orr – address to the Haggis, Liam Jamieson – Immortal Memory, Archie Gilbert – Toast to the Lassies and Marjorie Tennant – Reply for the Lassies, impressed with their feats of memory, brilliant delivery and sometimes dodgy humour!

Robert Allan of the ‘Elph’ produced the excellent traditional meal with warm reeking haggis, rich champit tatties and bashed neeps followed by tipsy laird pudding.  By the time supper was over including leek and potato soup, cheese and biscuits and shortbread with coffee everyone was happy to settle back comfortably to enjoy an evening of entertainment.  As well as the top table items there were songs and poetry and musical item before the singing of Auld Lang Syne and a vote of thanks to the Village Hall Committee for all the effort put in to creating a wonderful evening.
